Total Facilities 2018

20/04/18 | Sally Wotton

FSI APAC commanded a main entrance location in the Smart Zone at Australia's Total Facilities 2018 expo held at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre. This was a return visit following success at the 2017 expo.

The highlight feature on the eye-catching stand was a giant interactive smartphone. This was used to good effect to demonstrate FSI's new Concept Advantage Chat Log app, primarily by our visiting UK FSI colleague Paul Bullard, throughout the course of the 2-day expo. Through smartphones (and tablets and computers), Advantage delivers the next important step in the evolution of FM: direct, immediate involvement of entire workplace communities (FM consumers!) with aspects of the FM function that are relevant to them.

The FSI team were also kept busy demonstrating the flagship, award-winning CAFM solution "Concept Evolution" to expo attendees who visited from states across Australia.

Total Facilities 2018 exhibitor space was sold-out. Along with the high calibre of exhibitors, new product launches and fully-booked education sessions contributed to the reasons 2018 was the best Total Facilities yet. It's indicative of the growing importance and interest in this discipline that the organisers reported record attendance. Visitor numbers were up 12%, seeing close to 3000 industry professionals participate in this leading FM forum.

The organisers pitch the Smart Zone as the place for innovative, disruptive solutions where visitors can seek strategic advice on how to use technology and data to better understand and manage their building performance. Areas highlighted include:

  • Big data analytics
  • IoT technologies
  • Cloud-based solutions
  • Energy management
  • Sustainability and efficiency
  • Building automation
  • Location-based services
  • Occupant comfort and productivity
  • Building Information Modelling (BIM)
  • NFC sensors
  • Smart lighting
  • Smart surveillance
  • Smart robots

Needless-to-say, FSI ticks the boxes in relation to all these subjects; being directly active in the provision of implementations, or interactive with other specialist organisations.

The APAC team was so pleased they have already begun designing their stand for Total Facilities 2019 at the International Convention Centre in Sydney, so put the following dates in your diary: March 20-21, 2019.
