DENVER, CO and TORONTO, Dec. 21, 2020 – Switch Automation, a leading real estate technology company that delivers a digital device discovery (Switch Dx3) solution, today announced a collaboration agreement with FSI (FM Solutions) Limited (FSI), a market leader in facility management solutions and workplace technology, specifically computer-aided facility management (CAFM) and integrated workplace management systems (IWMS). FSI is headquartered in the UK with offices in North America, Australia and Asia.

Facility management software provides organizations a holistic view of their facility and maintenance activities, enabling them to effectively plan preventative maintenance, assign and track work orders, optimize energy efficiency and more. The system incorporates data from a variety of sensors and IoT devices, many of which have both a spatial component (e.g., location within the facility) and building information modeling (BIM) data (e.g., part number and manufacturer). As more of these solutions enter real estate, keeping an accurate record of connected devices and systems is critical. Switch Dx3 routinely checks building systems, sensors and devices to assess connectivity, network integrity and readiness for future smart building technologies.

Operators can get an immediate overview of their building network systems via the Switch Dx³ dashboard, which displays connected devices on the building network, highlights potential vulnerabilities and paves the way for further smart building integration.

Switch Automation and FSI are teaming to pursue joint opportunities for their solutions, with an initial emphasis on enterprise implementations that address pandemic-related challenges. Switch Dx3 can run without being at the physical location and helps reduce or streamline vendor visits so fewer people are entering your building.

With FSI and Switch Automation, along with the appropriate environmental sensors and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system integrations, customers can achieve, among other benefits, the following:

  • Dig real-time data out of buildings to help you fully understand your device and network connectivity status;
  • Pinpoint and navigate to HVAC units that have open protocols, regardless of manufacturer;
  • Check building digital readiness by displaying device firmware versions, integration ports and protocols; and identify potential network security threats.
  • Leverage machine learning to seamlessly name and tag data to save your team tedious labor hours and ensure consistency across your portfolio.

"We’ve seen an increase in client requests for smart building controls, in light of the fact that so many buildings remain dormant or are running at partial and inconsistent occupancy, with the same carbon footprint as they did prior to the first lockdown. This increasing need encouraged us to seek out a top indoor mapping and indoor intelligence provider to compliment our IWMS/CAFM solution, Concept Evolution, leading us to Switch Automation," commented Jon Benjamin, FSI Regional Vice President. "IoT inter-operability becomes key in enabling best-of-breed solutions to come together and finally deliver on the promise of smart buildings. Switch Automation has become one of the interictal parts of our delivery team and a key component in our unified Concept Evolution ecosystem.

“Facility managers are also increasingly looking for their facility management software to help improve workplace safety and to address re-opening guidelines and best practices in regard to the pandemic. FSI's Concept Evolution suite with Switch Automation’s Analytics Platform can enable facility managers to quickly visualize and address workplace safety issues, both on a proactive and reactive basis as the situation warrants, to facilitate the safe reopening and ongoing operation of our customers' businesses."

"We are pleased to work with FSI, as our technologies complement each other well," stated Deb Noller, CEO of Switch Automation. "FSI's substantial reach to potential customers and their international footprint allow us to address new markets and additional customer segments. FSI's award-winning solutions combined with Switch’s visionary platform and Switch Dx3 solution provides customers a comprehensive offering that can address a wide range of critical business needs. We look forward to working with FSI on executing opportunities already identified as well as on aggressively pursuing new opportunities together in the $39.5 billion1 global facility management market."
